1. Installing Urdu fonts

Usually the downloaded fonts are in the Compression / WinRAR file. Unzip the fonts before installing them. Now there are two ways to install them

i. One is to open the font you want to install and click on the install button will appear at the top.

ii. After copying the font, go to the control panel and find the Fonts folder there and paste your Urdu fonts in this folder. This way all pasted fonts will be installed. This is how fonts are installed using Windows 7, whether the fonts are in Urdu or any other language.

2. Setting keyboard layout and language bar

First of all, install any Urdu keyboard layout that you like on your computer. You can download an Urdu keyboard layout from this link.

Normally with the installation of the keyboard, Urdu support is fully integrated in Windows 7 and the language option starts appearing on the taskbar as shown in the picture below.

How to remove a keyboard layout and add another

The following is a detailed procedure for removing your installed keyboard layout and selecting a new / second keyboard layout or using multiple keyboard layouts. How and where to change layout and language settings.

1. Open Control Panel on your computer for which click on Start then click on Control Panel.

2. Click on the Change keyboards option.

3. Now click on the Change Keyboards option.

4. In the new window that appears, click on the Add button which has been highlighted.

5. In the new window / box that appears you have to choose your language and its Keyboard Layout. In this window there is a list of languages ​​in which if you search for Urdu at the bottom then Urdu (Islamic Republic of Pakistan) will be written in one place. It will have "+" plus button. "+" Open the plus button. The Keyboard Layout will now show the keyboard layout you installed, along with the Windows custom keyboard layout. Choose whatever keyboard layout you want.

Note that instead of your installed Urdu keyboard layout in the list of keyboards, if you select Urdu, which is the self-made Urdu keyboard layout of Windows, then when you press the "a" button, M will be written in the same way "b" will be written "sh" which is not commonly used for writing Urdu but "a" to "a" and "b" to "b" is preferred. That is, it is easy to write Urdu letters according to the sound of English letters. Therefore, it is better to select only your added keyboard layout in this list of keyboards. Now the changes you have made have been saved. Now to change the language, press Alt + Shift keys on the left side or you can change the language from the language bar. Click on language bar and change the language. When all the keyboards appear, select the one you want.

Here you have to select the Docked in the taskbar button and then click OK. This will make the language bar appear on the taskbar. Similarly, if you want to remove the language bar from the taskbar, select the Hidden button and click OK, then the language bar will disappear. Then close the control panel by clicking OK.
